Red Squirrel: Family Sciuridae. Ranges throughout Europe and Northern Asia. Has reddish-brown fur, which turns darker in winter, grows to a length of 24 cm with a tail 20 cm long. Food is mostly vegetables (nuts, seeds, and buds). Gives birth to 1 - 3 young in a litter after a gestation period of up to about 42 days. Lifespan: Up to 5 years but usually 2 - 3 years.
